Project Overview
A comprehensive malaria data analysis project covering African countries from 2007 to 2017 — cleaning messy public health datasets, extracting trends, and communicating findings through Tableau dashboards and a structured PDF report.
Data & Cleaning
- Source: WHO malaria incidence and case data by country and year
- SQL scripts removed duplicates, standardized country name spellings, converted incidence rates to comparable formats, and flagged data gaps
- Excel used for pivot-based validation and spot-checking cleaned outputs
Analysis Highlights
- Sub-Saharan Africa consistently accounts for 90%+ of global malaria cases across the decade
- Nigeria and DRC together represent roughly 40% of African cases — despite having some of the largest intervention programs
- Countries with consistent ITN (insecticide-treated net) distribution showed measurable case reduction after 3–5 years
Visualization & Reporting
Tableau dashboards include time-series trend lines by country, a choropleth map of incidence rates, and a comparative bar chart of top-10 highest-burden countries. All findings documented in a structured PDF report covering methodology, key findings, and data limitations.
